About Us

Dr Ram

I am an NHS GP Partner and GP trainer who has done joint injections for over a decade. I qualified from the University of Liverpool 2008 with MBChB with Honours. I also have a PGCert in GP Education with Distinction. I have worked in Royal Liverpool Hospital in orthopaedics and accident and emergency, as well as St John Ambulance at Anfield and Goodison Park. My NHS work is in Woolton House Medical Centre, south Liverpool.
I am a great advocate of you, the patient, getting care as if you were a close relative- advising, treating and wanting the best for you. Impartial decision making is at the core

I am not an orthopaedic surgeon and so I do not have a vested interest in replacing a joint. I will tell you if having a steroid joint injection is likely to cause you more harm than good. Honesty and ethical principles of applying solid evidence-based, National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE) recommended treatments are integral to my work. The only evidence-based injection recommended by NICE is with steroid (I won’t use gold or sodium hyaluronate injections for this reason).

There is evidence that ultrasound guidance isn’t needed for a great outcome for steroid injections (Ekeberg OL, 2009) so by not using ultrasound guidance, the patient avoids paying an unnecessary premium. The excellent outcomes are borne out in my steroid injection feedback data.

I want you to regain independence to restart to enjoy your golf, walking football, boules, gardening, walking, grandparenting and holidaying, or even just simple things like having a good night’s sleep.

By doing this, you will feed your mental and physical health enabling you to live a long and fruitful life. Your family will be thankful.
